Next came the stop sign shaped stickers that read “Stop the Statist Control Freaks” bumper sticker. The messages with Statist were inspired when I read Mark Levin's book Liberty and Tyranny when many Americans had an increasing concern over the growing threat to our inherent freedoms with the election of President Obama and a progressivist, sanctimonious, “we know what is good for you” Congress. Since that time, the cashiers in the drivethru's are now familiar with what a Statist is.
Zero Tyranny Bumper Magnets evolved into an online business because I got a kick out of watching peoples' reactions to the messages on my car when I was driving around. Sometimes people had a look of disgust and sped off because they were ticked and other times, they would tap on their horn and give me a thumbs up sign.
It was like having a Tea Party pep rally pick me up on Route 64 as we went about our work. Since I had many messages I wanted to convey, I later switched to bumper magnets.
As I watched the news and listened to the radio, I felt strong concern over government overstepping its bounds with the eminent domain issues and blatant disregard for individual liberty.
Corporatists were getting bailed out with taxpayers' money and the average American had felt and continues to feel the burden of the risk while arrogant government officials spend money willy-nilly and live lifestyles different than what they dictate the average American is to live, e.g. automatic pay raises for Congress, invasive Census questions not covered by the Constitution, National Health Care not applying to federal workers or the ever-entitled Union leadership, Nancy Pelosi and President Obama wastefully making trips and exceeding carbon emissions against their own standards, etc. the list of hypocritical actions goes on.
I was weary of the hand-wringing in July, so came up with “Liberty will Trump Statism” (if not in our lifetime, maybe in our childrens' or grandchildrens' future if we have the guts to plant the seeds).
I kept thinking of messages and wanted to provide another opportunity for others to get the word out, so talked with a member of the Tea Party who encouraged me to go ahead and get a business license.
When driving in downtown Richmond on Veterans' Day, it occurred to me that the people I wanted to honor were our veterans, soldiers, and Founders. Without them, we would not be enjoying the benefits such as freedom of speech. I decided on November 11, 2009 that I would dedicate this site to them and took my lunch break to start the paperwork and pay the fees at City Hall and John Marshall Court.
Since others have the market on bashing specific individuals, I decided to focus on concepts instead. I deliberately kept the messages simple, usually on a white background to make the messages easier for others to read when driving. Some magnets have small print which is easier to read when your car is in a parking lot. Either way, if you are passionate about these messages, I appreciate your business. Messages like “My Grandparents did not come here to live in collectivism” can be modified for those who are first or second generation.
For example, you could change it to “My Father..., My Mother did not come her to live in collectivism” depending on which relative came to this country. Many whose families immigrated to this country have a profound respect that America is “the last stand on earth” (Reagan) as they came from countries that exercised various levels of oppression.
Help get the word out to those who do not have the chance or who will not hear alternative media. It is my intent to highlight those who violate every standard they impose on us.
